Lohagad, a symbol of valour

Lohagad.. Well the most well maintained fort of lonavala would be arguably Lohagad only. With its giangitic walls and amazing staircases it depicts a history of its own. Every wall echoes the richness of the past and the legacy of the legends. It seems that the Lohagad Fort wants to decipher the witnessing of greatness of Raja Shivchhatrapati! Reaching lohagad is very easy as compared to other forts of lonavala. You can get any train till lonavala station and from there various private transports are available which help us reach the lohagad trail. The rickshaws take 300 Rs to drop the passenger at the starting point i.e, Bhaja caves from where the trek to lohagad starts. Tavera and sumo costs around 1500 Rs for return journey. The local raiway is another means to reach the destination. Malavli station would be the nearest station for lohagad & Bhaja caves. Trek to Rajmachi Fort

So as you know the moonsoon has arrived and most people out there will be making plans to go lonavala. But the real question is where in lonavala? Well here's a solution to your problem and it's 'Rajmachi fort'.  First of all Rajmachi trek and Rajmachi fort is DIFFERENT! This trek is of moderate level. The Fort can be reached from 3 places. I.e, from the karjat route, the thakurwadi village route and the della route. The thakurwadi village is a remote village and the road to reach is not clear. Also the karjat route requires to climb a 2000ft mountain to reach Rajmachi where as there are no directions and its easy to lose the way. Think of the Karjat route strictly if you're a professional trekker.  The della route which starts from della adventure park is much used route by the trekkers and the road is straight. Karnala, You & the spiders

a trip to karnala fort will be the perfect destination for a one day trip for you. Situated on the outskirts of panvel, this is one destination bestowed with the blessings of mother nature. The Karnala Bird Sanctuary is situated approximately 10 kms from Panvel. In order to reach the fort, one has to travel through the bird sanctuary.                                        There are sharing Rickshaws available from the panvel station to reach the karnala bird sanctuary. The per person cost for these Rickshaws would be approximately 25 rupees. The entry ticket for the bird sanctuary costs Rs 70 per person. Also there should be Rs 100 for carrying still camera and Rs 150 for video camera paid at the counter There is a small restaurant near the first aid room wherein if you inform them for the food, then they would prepare the food for you.
