Bracing Bhandardara - A camp under the stars!

The idea of Camping under the stars itself is so enchanting that one will just be daydreaming the moment they hear it out. Camping is like a teacher itself which teaches us newer and newer experiences while we set out to discover nature. Sleeping inside the tent and sitting besides a bonfire under a night full of stars will be enough to make anyone awed. The Nature is so abundant that one might exhaust learning from it but it won't be exhausted teaching about things.

A trek or a camp, nothing goes your way unless you have all the necessary things required to set up your camp.  So here are a few things required for having a good time:
1. Camping tents
2. Blankets
3. Bedsheet per tent
4. Hammer
5. Torch/camping lights
6. kerosene (if possible)
7. Bluetooth Speaker
8. Barbeque Grill

One rule of camping is to "NOT USE ANY MOBILE PHONE DURING THE CAMP". However just one or two are exception due to songs or any emergency.

Bhandardara is about 180 kms from mumbai and an ideal place to set your camp. It is the best camping place for beginners. The tents can be set up near the MTDC holiday home. It is the nearest place near the Bhandardara lake. Also there are people who give tents on rents there but the cost there is comparatively higher than what we get on rent from Mumbai.  They charge 1500 INR for 3 persons while you can get a 4 person tent on rent in 400 INR from Mumbai. Also the tent owners try to portray that the land is theirs but once you explain them that its a government property and talk with confidence then they will surely be taken aback and won't disturb you again!
A Beautiful lakeside view and cool breeze will let you loose yourself and rediscover friendship with your friends. Boating is also available wherein the cost will be approximately 80 INR per person.
Breakfast and washroom facility is available in the MTDC canteen.
Wilson Dam is the attraction here. The Randha Falls and the Umbrella falls are the best places to visit here but only during the monsoons.
You can also try your hands on boating here and actually help in rowing the oar while controlling the boat! Sounds interesting much?

The best time to visit this place would definitely be from October to January. The place has the aura to make you feel what cold is and how it affects. Beware of the dogs here as they might look cute and peaceful but keep barking all night to disturb your sleep. Blankets are the must here and make sure to take some wooden sticks or pieces to use for bonfire.
The Kalsubai peak and the Ratanwadi village is also the major attraction near Bhandardara. And Mt. Kalsubai is just as majestic as it sounds! Amruteshwar temple is a well known attraction which is located near Ratanwadi village.
So, Stop making just the plans and start your adventure with Camping!
