Jaipur - the pride of Rajasthan

Rajasthan.. where the enchanting sound of Padharo Mhare Desh reverberates in the air spreading the feeling of togetherness and love throughout the land. Where the people kept their pride at the bottom of their heart and valour at the tip of their sword. This place is an amazing example of how history can shape a place and ignite the present and future. While rajasthan is famous for its history and forts, there is also a great amount of significance to their culture. These people will die a hero's death but will never surrender till their last breath.


The place where even the fiercest of enemies are given regard and the visitors are treated as god is the witness to the sheer valour showcased by the likes of
Maharana Pratap and Maharana Kumbha. This beautiful landscape is guarded by the mountains on all sides and presents a series of picturesque places to visit. The place has it all from beautiful gardens and calm lakes to exotic wildlife, sacred temples and gigantic forts. The Rajasthanis have high regard for their culture and manners. Whilst the outer covering showcases the valour of the legends, the inside screams the echoes of the past.
Rajasthan has high regard for art and craft. There is a specific liking for the craftsmanship.  The jewellery, Hand printed textiles, pottery as well as stone and wood carving are quite popular concepts. However the music is also a formidable part of the state. The traditional folk songs and the singing communities of the desert such as Langas and Manganiyars are the ones performing all over the world now.
The cuisine is also a great addition to the features of the state. However you might get a sweet taste in almost every traditional dish here. Dal, batti and churma have become well known all over the world now. Also the gatte ki sabji, her and sangri and sweet deserts such as dal badam ka halva, laps, ghevar, kulhad lassi and Goti Soda are worth a try food items.
Rajasthan has been divided into two sections by the travellers. It is the Mewar/Mewad region and the second one is Marwar region.
The Mewar region consist of the places BhilwaraChittorgarhRajsamandUdaipur, Pirawa Tehsil of Jhalawar, Pushkar, Jaipur and Mount Abu and Ajmer. 

Jaipur:

Jaipur is the place reflecting the perfect symphony between brotherhood and peace. The inner city is coloured by pink as an astronomical and scientific combination by the founder king Sawai Jai Singh. His interest in astronomy and mathematics was amazing. The Bengali architect, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya helped the king in the formation of the city. It was coloured pink to welcome Prince Albert and since then the colour became an integral part of the city.
The places to visit in Jaipur:
City Palace
Located at the centre of the city, this palace was built between 1729 and 1732 by Sawai Jai Singh. The architecture is the combination of mughal style and Rajput style. Chandra Mahal, Govind Devi Temple, Diwan-i-khas, Diwan khan and Pritam mahal are the places worth a visit.

Hawa Mahal
Translated as the palace of winds, this great masterpiece is built in the centre on pink city. It has 953 niches and 152 windows. It was built in 1799 By King Sawai Pratap Singh so as the royal ladies could enjoy the royal processions as it wasn't allowed for the royal ladies to visit outside much.

Isar Tar
This Minaret was built to celebrate the grand victory by Sawai Ishwari Singh in 1749. one can find quality  lac bangles and also witness the producing of other handicraft items.

Albert Hall
Situated in the Ram Nivas Garden, this magnificent building is home to the largest collection of archaeological and handicraft pieces. There is also a section dedicated to the Egyptian history. Paintings, Geology, Botany, Armoury, Textiles are some of the pieces showcased here.

Moti Doongri
This fort is the replica of a Scottish Castle and a residence of fourth son of the Late Maharaja Man Singh. However the entry is restricted here for quite sometime now.

Birla Mandir
This elegant temple lies below Moti Doongri which was built in 1988. The temple is an example of astonishing architecture and craftsmanship on white marble. There are hindu deities inscribed over many places in the temple. While there are inscriptions of religious figures like Socretes, Zarathustra, Christ, Buddha and Confucious etc. There is also a Ganesh Temple built in the premises.





Gator
This is the royal crematorium located at the foothills of Nahargarh fort which has several memorials of various distinguished members of the royal family of Jaipur.

Maharani ki Chhatri
This is the funeral place for the royal ladies and is located just before the Ramgarh road crossing. One should visit this place at night to experience the silence of the past.

Jal Mahal
Jal Mahal (water Palace) was built by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II in 1920 in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Singh II as a replica to the Udaipur's Jag Palace and it took 10 years for its construction which was later completed by his son.

Amber Fort/Amer Fort
This mighty fort is located at a distance of 11kms from  jaipur. The fort was built by Raja Man Singh showcases the perfect blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture. Most of the work has been devastated over the course of time yet there are a good amount of places to visit. The two entrances of the fort, Singh pol and Ganesh pol are the only way to the fort. While you will find a good elephant ride from the village to the fort. They charge for 800 per person. 
Shila Mata Mandir, Jagat Shiromani Temple, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, Jai Mandir and Sukh Nivas are the notable point of interest here.


Nahargarh
The majestic Nahargarh was built by Sawai Jai Singh to guard the city as well as the Amer Fort. The fort was home to the soldiers of the Jaipur army. The fort would let the soldiers know about the threats approaching and there were indicators for the emergency given by soldiers. The major attraction are the Hawa Mandir and Madhavendra Bhawan.

Jaigarh
This fort overlooks the palaces and the Amber. The Jai Bhan Cannon which is considered to be the biggest cannon on wheels is located in the Jaigarh fort. This is amongst the very few forts which is preserved and still looks intact after the span of years.


Ramgarh Lake
This large lake covers an area of around 15.5 sq. kms and is the ideal picnic spot and covers the water supply of jaipur city. The lake is home to a quite and peaceful environment. This spot is ideal if you want to spend some time at a quite and peaceful environment.

so lets check out the places specifically made for shopping
1. Johari Bazaar : a place for gems and jewellery and types of metal ware. It also has good quality of dye sarees available.
2. Bapu Bazaar : It is home to textile and local perfumes shops.
3. Kishanpole Bazaar : It is famous for wooden furniture and dye textiles.
4.Achrol House, Subhash chowk: There are carpets and Durries available here.
5. Jawahar Nehru Road: It is known for handicraft items and woollens.

Fairs & Festivals
Makar Sankranti : This annual festival is celebrated on 14th January where the devotees take a holy dip and indulge in kite flying. This day marks the sky with various colourful kites.

Elephant Festival : This fair is held in Chauhan Stadium on the occasion of festival of Holi. A procession of beautifully decorated elephants, camels, horses and folk dances is held where people celebrate the sense of togetherness. it is held in between March-April.

Teej : This festival is dedicated to goddess Parvati and celebrates as the day when she was united with Lord Shiva. It's a festival which also marks the arrival of monsoon and is celebrated by the women at a large scale. There are processions comprising of decorated elephants and horses.

Donkey Fair : This unique fair is conducted in the month of October where thousands of donkeys are brought for trade and there are various sports and races held.

Jaipur will leave you speechless and take you for a ride in the essence of the past!

The idea of Camping under the stars itself is so enchanting that one will just be daydreaming the moment they hear it out. Camping is like a teacher itself which teaches us newer and newer experiences while we set out to discover nature.
