Ravishing Rohtang

SNOW... Who doesn't like the idea of playing and running around in snow? Somewhere watching various movies where the actors ran around and enjoyed in snow and photographs surfacing on the social networks, we gradually started to like the idea of playing in snow. So much so that we day dream that of running behind that one crush which never even looked at us or throwing snow balls at our friends. India being the hot country, we not always get a chance to experience the magic of snowfall everywhere. However we have been gifted the place called Rohtang Pass which lets us fulfill our wishes!

Rohtang Pass is situated in Himalaya which is around 51 kms from Manali. It is situated in between of  Kullu Valley and Spiti Valley. The way to Rohtang from Manali offers various breath taking views making you fall for its beauty. The Nature shows exactly how beautifully the mountains are carved and a covering of crystal clear snow to increase its wonder. The Road is filled with many turns and twists but the greenery of the valleys makes us forget the pain of many turns.

The Road till the checking point is always crowded with vehicles and takes almost 2-3 hours to reach from Manali Mall Road. However then it doesn't take much of the time to reach the Rohtang Pass. Just one hour journey approximately and you reach the destination.

There is a special Permit required to visit Rohtang Pass which is obtained via the internet one day prior to the journey. The Rates of the vehicles are as follows:

  • Taxi : 6500-7000Rs (4 Seater)
  • Sharing Mini Bus- 1000 Per Person
  • Private Vehicle - 4000 Per Person (4 Seater)
  • Motor Cycle (Royal Enfield) - 1500-1800
There are Warm clothes available on rent in various shops on the way to Rohtang Pass. One will require the warm clothes as the temperature falls to minus in the region.
Adventure sports are not conducted in the area due to some internal disputes. So don't expect any skiing in Rohtang.

Try the Channa Masala in Rohtang as it gives an essence of the taste of Himachal. Also there are vaious dhabbas on the way to Rohtang. So food is not the issue there.

Why wait? Go get some chills!

The idea of Camping under the stars itself is so enchanting that one will just be daydreaming the moment they hear it out.
